Ed is the owner and President of EB's Restaurant in Agawam, MA. He holds a Bachelor's of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing from Western New England College and a Master's Degree in Public Administration from the American International College
He is a cycling and fitness instructor at Fitness First Health and Fitness Center since 2006, as well as L.A. Fitness. Ed has served as the President of the Agawam Chamber of Commerce from 2006-2008 as well as Program Committee Chair between 2000-2006.
Ed has served on the Board of Directors of the Easter Seals of Massachusetts and has been the recipient of awards from The Children’s Miracle Network, The Larson Foundation, the Agawam Small Business Association for contribution to the community and impact on the economic development of the region. He has also received the Easter Seals' Relay for Independent Sponsor Award presented by former New England Patriots Quarterback, Steve Grogan, for Easter Seals fundraising work. He has received the Partner in PhilanthropyAward Recognition for work with Charitable organizations, specifically Easter Seals of Massachusetts.
Melanie Emig is a Senior Graphic Designer at Baystate Health. She has been in the marketing industry for over a decade working on a variety of print, video and other media-type projects from a creative and written perspective. As a graduate of Westfield State University with a degree in Public Relations and a minor in both Graphic Design and Multicultural and Ethnic Studies, she works to establish strong brand visuals, cutting edge designs and “out of the box” promotion concepts.
The efforts of Survivor Journeys are near and dear to her heart as she has several family members who she has helped through their cancer survivorship journeys. Melanie lives in West Springfield with her husband and two children.
Jay M. Presser was a practicing attorney for over forty years, many as a principal in a Springfield Massachusetts firm. He presently serves on the Board for the Suffield Rotary, as a Trustee for the Suffield Rotary Foundation, and as a Board Member for the Suffield Observer (newspaper) and as Treasurer for the Suffield Platform Tennis Association He was previously the Secretary and Board member for the Suffield Sports Council (a 501(c) organization), and was the President and Board Member for the Suffield Little League, and Suffield Travel Basketball Club.
Maggs is an executive at Voya Financial. She has been in the Financial Services industry for over 30 years. She is a graduate from the University of Rhode Island with a B.S. in Finance. She has helped several companies (for profit and not for profit) in their start up efforts. For these organizations, she has led the development of business and product visions, conducted market feasibility studies and competitor analysis to determine niche positioning in the marketplace, drove daily operations and product development execution, and led vendor partner exploration and due diligence.
Maggs appreciates the opportunity to participate in such a worthy and personal approach to cancer support services.
Dr. Jay Burton has been a primary care physician with Springfield Medical Associates in the Enfield,Connecticut office since 1988. He has provided medical care for generations of local families. Dr. Burton was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) in May 2010. He has undergone chemotherapy, total body irradiation, and a stem cell transplant as part of his cancer treatment. He has been in remission since July 2010. During and subsequent to his cancer treatment, Dr.Burton realized that cancer survivors often do not receive comprehensive primary care. Dr. Burton developed The Primary Care Cancer Survivorship Program (PCCSP) within Springfield Medical Associates to help cancer survivors coordinate and receive primary care services duringand after active cancer treatment.
Les is the CEO of Springfield Medical Associates, a multi-speciality medical practice in Springfield, MA. Les has spent more than 20 years in healthcare care management in both Massachusetts and Connecticut. A graduate of North Adams State College with a BA in Communications, Les has also volunteered for several non-profit organizations, was named the CYO Man of the Year for the diocese of Springfield, MA as well as a recipient of the Bishop McGuire award for work with young athletes.
Les is a self-taught musician who has entertained people on both a regional and national level for over 30 years. He is also a certified soccer and basketball referee and officiates local youth and high school games. Les feels that Survivors Journey offers an aspect of cancer support services that is both unique and innovative which can become a model program nation-wide.
Sean is a Lecturer of Accounting and Taxation at the University
of Massachusetts Amherst. He also works for a local CPA firm preparing tax returns for corporations, partnerships and individuals during tax season. He has been a practicing Certified Public Accountant for over 14 years, and has served on several Boards of Directors for local not-for-profit organizations in the roles of Treasurer and Director. Sean believes his work experience, knowledge and past volunteering experience brings a useful perspective to this organization. He shares his professional knowledge as this organization grows and prospers.
He also has an interest in the mission of this organization, and believes this organization provides a service that many people who have been affected by cancer benefit from.
